The stories in this exhibition come from women fans of Newcastle United and Sunderland AFC who have been supporters from the 1950s through to the present day.

For many of these women, football fandom is central to their lives, stirring their emotions and providing memories of unforgettable moments on the pitch and atmospheres in the stands.

This exhibition explores how ideas about football fandom have changed over time, and what it means to be a woman in a space that is often thought to be for men only.

These historic experiences can help us reconsider negative attitudes shown towards women in football today and imagine what the future could look like for women football fans.
