 Unbreakable art exhibition

As part of Durham University’s twining partnership with Zaporizhzhia National University, located in Ukraine, Bill Bryson Library is delighted to host ‘Unbreakable’ an art exhibition by Zaporizhzhia National University students during the UK-wide Ukrainian Culture Week.

You will find a selection of the images on display in Bill Bryson Library. These images have been shared with us digitally by Zaporizhzhia National University, with permission to print them out for display in the library.

The artworks represent three themes. One is based on the war, including a series of illustrations to poems by Serhiy Zhadan, "The Life of Virgin Mary" which you can read in The Snug. The second theme reflects the Ukrainian ethnic style, and the final theme is inspired by folklore, under the title Ukrainian Bestiary. All pieces are accompanied by annotations in English with QR codes linking to each artist’s profile and portfolio.

In this digital exhibition you will find all the artworks for you to view.

Please be aware that in the digital exhibition there are some strong, graphic, violent and potentially uncomfortable or upsetting images, especially in those on the theme of war.

The Ukraine Culture Week is led by Cormack Consultancy Group with the support of the Fund of the President of Ukraine for Education, Science and Sport.

We would like to thank Prof. Olena Tupakhina, Vice-President for International Affairs and the students of Zaporizhzhia National University for sharing with us their artwork
